Description
- Volt is immediately hiring an Accounting Specialist (Contractor) for a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in San Diego, CA (Hybrid).
As an Accounting Specialist you will:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
-
Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue adjustments, accruals, reclasses, and corrections.

Perform account reconciliations for revenue accounts, AR subledger, clearing accounts, and unapplied cash balances.

Research variances and ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

Create, review, and process invoices, credit memo requests, and other accounting adjustments within SAP or a comparable ERP system.

Support month-end close activities by compiling financial data, preparing schedules, and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and within deadlines.

Assist in maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with SOX and company accounting policies.

Support process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency and accuracy.

Participate in cross-functional projects, system enhancements, and process optimization efforts.

Assist with reporting requests, account analysis, and ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

Collaborate closely with Accounting, Finance, and cross-functional business partners to support operational objectives.

This is a full-time contract through December 31, 2026. 5 days a week. 8+ hours per day.
The Ideal candidate will have:

Required Skills & Qualifications
-
2-4+ years of experience in General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and/or Accounts Payable within a corporate or contractor environment.

Working knowledge of SAP or other large ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations.

Experience supporting month-end close activities.
-
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and accountability.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
-
Experience supporting accounting operations within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
-
Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal controls.

Experience with process improvement initiatives and system implementations.

Familiarity with revenue accounting and accounts receivable processes.
-
Experience working in a fast-paced corporate accounting environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1st Shift

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
