Accounting Operations Specialist - GBS ESC

About the Role Based in Munich, Germany, this role performs and partly coordinates all Accounting activities in the defined regional scope within the GBS ESC to ensure high-quality, timely, and fully compliant accounting services. It also supports building up and stabilizing the new organizational setup and end-to-end processes, collaborating with service line teams and stakeholders to ensure interfaces are covered.

What You'll Do

• Operate and partly coordinate all Accounting-related transactions in sub-ledgers and Cash Operations (O2C, P2P, Bank Accounting, and Master Data Management) in line with IFRS, local commercial and tax regulations.
• Coordinate and timely post accruals and provisions; oversee, prepare and execute incoming and outgoing payments; post and monitor payments; and prepare payment runs.
• Operate and coordinate all relevant Record-to-Report activities, especially monthly, quarterly and annual close in accordance with IFRS, local commercial and tax law.
• Perform and operationally coordinate the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS, local commercial and tax law.
• Prepare and coordinate reporting packages and reporting analyses.
• Execute and coordinate assets-related activities (IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 40) and support the investment process across the complete asset lifecycle.
• Execute and coordinate operational Credit Management and Credit Analysis activities in scope.
• Perform and partly coordinate the creation and maintenance of master data for E2E processes in the GBS ESC, in close collaboration with data stewards, data champions, service lines and other stakeholders according to MDM processes and governance.
• Perform and coordinate Fixed Assets, Intercompany and Financial Accounting support; be the primary or single point of contact to internal teams or customers for Accounting operations; coordinate for affiliates in line with the line manager.
• Be the primary operational contact for tax auditors, tax advisors and auditors; coordinate onboarding activities and mentor new colleagues; manage open items and reconcile general ledger and sub-ledgers.
• Maintain policies and procedures; support J-SOX controls and other internal controls and risk assessments in collaboration with SMEs and GPOs.
• Manage sub-projects or participate in larger projects to optimize Accounting activities and the development of the GBS ESC.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; WP, CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, ideally in a global, cross-cultural environment; significant project management experience with track record of larger projects and successful implementations; experience in GBS/shared services or transformation contexts is an advantage.
• Very good knowledge of IFRS; good knowledge of HGB and international VAT law.
• Strong project management skills; experience in global business services or transformation contexts is an advantage.
• Very good knowledge of SAP R/3, SAP ECC or S/4 HANA and MS-Office, especially FI and/or CO; MDG; experience with other SAP modules (MM, SD) or other reporting tools is a plus.
• Language: English (full professional proficiency) and/or German (business fluent).
• Strong communication skills; reliable and proactive; highly developed intercultural and cross-functional collaboration skills; strong analytical and conceptual skills with hands-on and result-oriented approach; high customer orientation and stakeholder management; ability to work in teams and take responsibility; ability to operate in an international, dynamic environment, especially in transformation/GBS contexts.
• Solid understanding of pharma business is a plus.

• Pharma industry familiarity; additional SAP certifications; experience in pharma or GBS transformation.
