About the Role Join ScotiaGBS in Bogota as an Accountant responsible for financial accounting, reporting, and regulatory compliance for the Canada Finance Service Unit. You will perform reconciliations, journal entries, produce financial reports for Supervisors, support audits, and help improve processes while ensuring compliance with policies and IFRS.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.
- Perform balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Process journal entries and related reconciliations; generate financial reports for Supervisors.
- Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
- Prepare information and files for regulatory reporting and assist with audits.
- Attend meetings and support team leaders; identify process improvement opportunities.
- Maintain Desktop Training Procedures (DTP) and ensure day-to-day controls align with Scotiabank’s risk, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct requirements.
- Support consolidation of financial statements for the Canada Finance Service Unit; participate in related projects.
- Apply accounting principles (IFRS) and stay current with regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- 3+ years of general or tax accounting experience (Big Four preferred).
- Experience with computerized ledger systems.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of IFRS and the components of financial statements and disclosure requirements.
