Job Summary

• We are seeking a competent, experienced, and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in supermarket or retail accounting to manage and oversee the financial records and transactions of its supermarket operations.
• The ideal candidate must have practical experience in sales reconciliation, inventory accounting, cash management, supplier accounts, expense monitoring, and financial reporting.
• The candidate must demonstrate a high level of accuracy, integrity, and accountability in managing financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records of all supermarket transactions.
• Reconcile daily sales, cash collections, POS transactions, and other payment channels.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory records, stock movements, purchases, and stock adjustments.
• Reconcile supplier invoices, payment records, and outstanding balances.
• Monitor daily revenue, operational expenses, and cash flow.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
• Monitor cost of goods sold, gross profit margins, and sales performance.
• Identify and investigate discrepancies in sales, cash collections, inventory, and financial records.
• Ensure proper documentation and authorization of all financial transactions.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely reconciliation.
• Assist with budgeting, expense control, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with accounting procedures, internal controls, and company policies.
• Maintain proper records for audit purposes and ensure the safekeeping of financial documents.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned by management.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of proven accounting experience, particularly in a supermarket or retail business.
• Practical knowledge of supermarket sales reconciliation, inventory accounting, stock valuation, and supplier account management.
• Experience with POS reconciliation and multiple payment channels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting software.
• ICAN/ACCA certification or membership in view will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify financial irregularities.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
