WHO WE ARE Since 1993, The Pathfinder Network (TPN) has been providing justice-system impacted individuals and their families the tools and support they need to be safe and thrive in our communities. We serve individuals experiencing incarceration, those reentering the community, those on forms of community supervision, their families, and their children, within 9 of Oregon’s 11 corrections facilities and in the community in Multnomah, Jackson, Marion, and Clackamas Counties. We develop and deliver a comprehensive scope of evidence-based, trauma-, gender- and culturally-responsive cognitive behavioral-based programs, including our proprietary, evidence-based curriculum Parenting Inside Out, which is the highest-rated parenting skills curriculum for parents involved with the criminal justice system. Our community programs feature holistic wraparound individual and group support and services. We serve an average of 3,000 people a year agency-wide. What you will be counted on to do

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications as described in a job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. As the Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance Team, which consists of the Director of Finance and Accounting Specialist, to maintain organizational internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, statutory financial requirements and best practices, and organizational mission, vision and values. You will be a fully contributing member of the Finance Team and will help provide data and analysis, along with recommendations, to ensure the ability to accurately report on the financial status of the agency and provide insights into future operational and financial decisions. In addition, you will serve as an accessible, in-person resource for staff across the organization, providing support, guidance, and problem solving related to finance processes, reimbursements, purchasing, and other finance-related questions.
Responsibilities

Financial Close

Manage all departmental functions, including A/R and A/P, general invoicing and dues billing, collections, banking, cash reconciliations, and cash management.

Support Director of Finance in managing agency financial operations.

Prepare first draft of financial statements, agenda, and review with the Director of Finance.

Create new general ledger accounts and monitor for accuracy.
-
Review of cash receipts, AP invoices, AR transactions for accuracy and timeliness.
-
Generate contract invoices and prepare revenue accruals.
-
Review payroll batch and prepare payroll journal entries.
-
Prepare journal entries - prepaid, depreciation, accruals, expense allocation, and net asset release.

Reconcile general ledger accounts at month-end and fiscal year-end.
-
Assist in the completion of audit requests by external CPA and funders.
-
Process Parenting Inside Out credit card transactions as requested.
-
Other duties as assigned.

Financial Analysis and Reporting
-
Review and track unallowable/allowable expenses from contract agreements.

Analyze and release donor-restricted funds.
-
Maintain analysis and forecast reports of funder activities and report information to departments.
-
Perform analysis of 1099 vendors for calendar year-end.
-
Calculate bi-annual royalties for partnered-impact activities.

Assist in the completion of workers compensation audit requests.
-
Support in the implementation of financial systems improvements and maintain internal controls.

Participation in Shared Leadership (=5% of your time)

Requirements
- Experience and skills we are interested in: 4-5 years of experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Strong background in finance, accounting, and/or bookkeeping Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Core computer skills in word processing, database management and spreadsheets Excellent verbal and written communication skills Capacity to correspond and work respectfully with diverse teams
