About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Accountant to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and financial controls. This role requires a finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with SAP.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining statutory compliance, supporting management decision-making, and strengthening financial processes and controls across the organization.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting
-
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Develop and present management reports to support business decision-making.

Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information and reporting processes.

Ledger & Reconciliation Management
-
Manage General Ledger functions and account reconciliations.
-
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
-
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
-
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis
-
Monitor budgets and financial performance against targets.
-
Support financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
-
Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
-
Analyze financial trends and business performance indicators.
-
Compliance & Audit Management
-
Ensure timely tax submissions and compliance with statutory requirements.
-
Coordinate annual audits and liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities.
-
Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial regulations.
-
Strengthen internal controls and financial governance practices.

SAP & Process Improvement
-
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the SAP system.

Maintain and optimize accounting processes within SAP.
-
Support system improvements and financial process enhancements.
-
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
Requirements
-
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent professional qualification.
-
Professional qualifications such as CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent accounting qualification will be highly preferred.

Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level capacity.

Hands-on SAP experience is mandatory.

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements.

Excellent understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
