We are seeking an analytical and commercially minded Accountant to join our client's team. This role goes beyond traditional accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial insight into the cost of goods, inventory, budgets, margins and overall profitability, helping management understand the numbers behind the business and make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities

Determine and analyse the cost of goods, products and services.

Monitor inventory costs, movements and variances.

Prepare and analyse budgets and actual performance.

Conduct margin and profitability analysis.

Identify cost variances, leakages and opportunities for improved efficiency.

Prepare financial and management reports that provide useful business insights.

Support pricing and other commercial decisions through accurate cost and margin analysis.

Maintain accurate accounting records and reconciliations.

Work closely with Operations, Procurement, Sales and Management to understand and analyse business performance.

Who We Are Looking For

We are open to candidates whose current job titles may differ, provided they have the right experience and analytical capability. You may currently be working as an Accountant, Cost Accountant, Management Accountant, Inventory Accountant, Commercial Accountant, Financial Analyst or in a similar accounting/finance role.
What matters most is your ability to:
- Understand and determine costs accurately.
- Analyse inventory and financial data.
- Work with budgets and variance analysis.
- Understand gross margins and profitability.
- Use financial information to explain what is happening in the business.
- Work confidently with Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.

3–5 years' relevant experience.

Strong accounting fundamentals and analytical ability.

Experience with costing, inventory, budgeting or financial analysis will be an advantage.

ICAN/ACCA qualification or progress towards qualification will be an advantage
