Job Description

CarePoint Hospitals is seeking a skilled and organized Accountant to join their dedicated team in Lagos. This role is crucial for managing the Accounts Department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounts Department.
Supervise and guide members of the Accounts team.
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Prepare and analyse financial statements and management reports.
Monitor income, expenses, receivables, payables, cash movements, and cash flow.
Perform and review bank, cash, customer, supplier, and other account reconciliations.
Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of revenue from clinical services, pharmacy, laboratory, HMO, and other revenue streams.
Support budget preparation, financial analysis, cost control, and management decision-making.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial policies.
Coordinate statutory, internal, and external audit requirements and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
Monitor financial controls and investigate accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of financial records.
Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
4–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with supervisory experience.
ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or another recognised accounting qualification is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and financial controls.
Good understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
Experience with reconciliations, cash-flow management, accounts payable, and receivable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and team-management skills.
Good communication skills and high integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
Previous healthcare experience is an added advantage.
