About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Accountant to oversee the Accounts Department, maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, manage reconciliations, monitor cash flow, ensure statutory compliance, and support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounts Department.
- Supervise and guide members of the Accounts team.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare and analyse financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor income, expenses, receivables, payables, cash movements, and cash flow.
- Perform and review bank, cash, customer, supplier, and other account reconciliations.
- Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of revenue from clinical services, pharmacy, laboratory, HMO, and other revenue streams.
- Support budget preparation, financial analysis, cost control, and management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal financial policies.
- Coordinate statutory, internal, and external audit requirements and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor financial controls and investigate accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
- Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of financial records.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 4–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with supervisory experience.
- ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or another recognised accounting qualification is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and financial controls.
- Good understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
- Experience with reconciliations, cash-flow management, accounts payable, and receivable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and team-management skills.
- Good communication skills and high integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Previous healthcare experience is an added advantage.
