Job Summary
- Bergstein Hospital, located in Ikorodu, Lagos, is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized Accountant to manage the hospital's financial records and support effective financial management.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring income and expenses, managing accounts, supporting budgeting and reporting, and ensuring that the hospital's financial activities are properly documented and compliant with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the hospital.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and daily financial transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements, cash collections, POS transactions, and other payment channels.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
- Monitor hospital revenue, expenses, cash flow, and outstanding receivables.
- Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and provide financial reports to management.
- Process payroll and ensure accurate calculation and timely remittance of statutory deductions.
- Monitor patient payments, corporate accounts, HMO transactions, and outstanding balances.
- Work closely with the HMO and administrative teams to reconcile claims and payments.
- Prepare invoices, receipts, payment schedules, and other financial documentation.
- Assist with tax preparation, statutory filings, and other regulatory financial requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial records and documentation.
- Identify financial discrepancies, errors, or irregularities and ensure timely resolution.
- Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures.
- Support management with financial analysis and recommendations for cost control and improved profitability.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and patient-related information.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years relevant accounting experience.
- Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, healthcare organization, or other service-based business is highly desirable.
- Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ANAN is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Nigerian tax regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Experience with hospital management systems, HMO billing, or healthcare accounting is an advantage.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict reporting deadlines.
