Job Description

Orient Global Manufacturing Limited, a prominent entity in Nigeria's manufacturing industry with over a decade of experience in raw material supply, is actively seeking a dedicated Account Officer.

This role is integral to managing the company's financial operations, encompassing meticulous accounts payable and receivable management, comprehensive reconciliations, and ensuring strict adherence to tax compliance regulations.

The Account Officer will be responsible for preparing key financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, in accordance with both legal requirements and internal accounting standards.

Key duties involve preparing monthly management accounts, assisting in the review of expenses and payroll records, and collaborating with external auditors for periodic checks.

Furthermore, the position requires the processing of all financial transactions within accounting software like QuickBooks and Sage, ensuring timely ledger closing and accurate posting of journals, payment vouchers, and receipt vouchers.

The role also entails conducting in-depth financial analysis, including ratio computation, variance analysis, and business performance assessment, alongside the preparation and timely filing of statutory returns for VAT, WHT, NSITF, Pension, NHF, and PAYE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and petty cash transaction reconciliations.
  • Reconcile control accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements in line with legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Assist with reviewing expenses, payroll records, and other assigned financial records.
  • Work with the company’s auditors periodically to carry out routine checks.
  • Process accounting journals, payment vouchers, and receipt vouchers.
  • Carry out financial analysis, including financial ratio computation and interpretation, variance analysis, and business performance analysis.
  • Process and post all financial transactions on QuickBooks to ensure timely closing of ledgers and control accounts.
  • Prepare, process, and timely file statutory returns with relevant tax regulators, including VAT, WHT, NSITF, Pension, NHF, and PAYE.
  • Maintain best-practice standards in accounting processing.
  • Prepare accounts and tax returns.
  • Prepare payroll and process payment of wages and salaries.
  • Monitor spending and budgets.
  • Conduct financial forecasting and risk analysis.
  • Advise on ways to reduce costs and increase profits.
  • Compile and present financial and budget reports.
  • Ensure financial statements and records comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Keep account books and systems up to date.
  • Use accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Account Officer or in a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, and Nigerian tax laws.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Sage.
  • Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
