Job Description

Key Objective

• Main Interfaces: Underwriting and Product Development, Claims Department, Operations and Business Integration, Line of Business Team (mainly Brokerage, possible expansion to Direct Marketing and Travel)
• Partner, Broker, Agent, Direct Customer

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Underwriting Management
• Underwrite New Business case of A&H and approve cases within assigned authority according to the underwriting standard
• Oversee and direct submissions to Underwriting Manager for review beyond delegated underwriting authority.
• Obtain approval by Regional Management or Global Underwriting when appropriate.
• Ensure all business is underwritten within established Internal Audit Guidelines
• Establish, implement and communicate country underwriting policies and procedures, response timetables and quality standards.
• Proactively prepare for pricing of new and renewal accounts considering experience and insurance risk associated. Work with marketing staff to identify and support development of new products and/or packages to meet current or potential market / customer needs and generate underwriting profits at the same time.
• Ensure approvals from appropriate regional and regulatory authorities are obtained timely. Initiate account and product reviews with maketing staff.
• Support the underwriting management programs such as loss analysis and account managements.
• Liaise with other functional groups to ensure appropriate and timely flow of technical information into and out of the Underwriting Unit: e.g., Finance and Claims.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of new and existing products
• Support and Assist Product Development
• Other ad-hoc reports / analysis with new initiatives

Reports to: A&H Underwriting Manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in insurance or related fields (master’s degree preferred)

• Good understanding in underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices

• Minimum 3 years of experience in A&H underwriting

• Comfortable and effective in verbal and written communications in English.

• High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills at multiple levels.

• Experience working within a profit center environment with a mid-size to large multinational company.

• Ability to adapt in new environment and proactive to learn

• Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment and multi-task, also under pressure

• Advanced excel skill and actuarial knowledge / background is plus
