About the Role The University of Rio Grande's Office of Accessibility provides accommodations in accordance with the ADA and Rehabilitation Act (Section 504). This posting describes the intake process and services available to students who qualify for accommodations, and the role of the Director of Academic Support & Student Accessibility in coordinating support. The goal is to help students access classroom and campus life with reasonable accommodations. What You'll Do

  • Contact the Office of Accessibility for intake paperwork and to schedule your intake appointment.
  • Submit intake paperwork and schedule your intake appointment.
  • Meet with the Director of Academic Support & Student Accessibility to discuss your specific needs and determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Provide documentation of a qualifying disability as part of the intake paperwork (e.g., medical or mental health provider documentation, or an academic record noting a disability such as an IEP or 504 Plan).
  • Ensure that the requested accommodations meet the established definitions and criteria for disability under the ADA, Section 504, and/or the Fair Housing Act.
  • Learn about and register for accommodations for classroom use and campus life as applicable. What We're Looking For
  • Documentation of a qualifying disability (from a medical/mental health provider or an academic record such as an IEP or 504 Plan).
  • Interest in receiving accessibility services and accommodations.
  • Willingness to complete intake steps (intake paperwork, intake appointment) and to meet with the Director to discuss needs.
