Position Summary The Accessibility Coordinator supports the University's commitment to equitable access by coordinating disability services for students and ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable laws and regulations. The coordinator manages a caseload of students throughout the accommodations process, including intake, eligibility review, accommodation determination, and ongoing case management. The position also oversees the coordination of accommodated testing services, collaborates with faculty and campus partners to facilitate accommodations, and contributes to outreach, education, and continuous improvement initiatives that promote an inclusive learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities Disability Intake and Case Management
- Conduct interactive intake meetings with students who disclose a disability to discuss functional limitations, explain available accessibility services, and guide students through the accommodations process.
- Review disability documentation and determine eligibility for accessibility services and reasonable accommodations in accordance with the ADA, Section 504, and institutional policies.
- Engage students in an interactive process to identify appropriate accommodations that provide equitable access while maintaining academic standards.
- Provide ongoing case management, consultation, and support to students throughout their enrollment.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
Accommodated Testing Services
- Coordinate the scheduling and administration of exams for students approved for testing accommodations.
- Respond to testing inquiries from students, faculty, and staff regarding accommodated testing procedures.
- Utilize accommodation management software (Accommodate) to maintain accurate schedule and management of testing services.
- Ensure the secure receipt, handling, administration, storage, and return of examination materials.
- Maintain testing environments that support approved accommodations and meet accessibility standards.
- In collaboration with the Director of Accessibility, coordinate and maintain proctor schedules to ensure adequate staffing for accommodated testing.
Faculty Consultation and Campus Collaboration
- Serve as a resource for faculty regarding disability accommodations, accessibility practices, and implementation of approved accommodations.
- Assist faculty in resolving accommodation-related questions while promoting compliance with university policies and federal regulations.
- Participate in committees and campus initiatives that advance accessibility and inclusive practices.
Outreach, Education, and Programming
- Develop and coordinate programming that increases student awareness of accessibility services and promotes disability inclusion.
- Assist with presentations, workshops, orientation programs, and outreach events.
- Develop educational materials and social media content promoting accessibility services.
- Support efforts to increase student engagement with campus resources.
Office Operations and Compliance
- Manage the Office of Accessibility email inbox, voicemail, and general communications.
- Maintain accurate databases and records related to accommodations and testing services.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Accessibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Student Affairs, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field.
- One to three years of professional experience in disability services, higher education, student affairs, compliance, case management, human resources, legal services, a related field involving accommodations, accessibility, or equitable access.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, and current best practices in higher education accessibility.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting policies, reviewing documentation, and exercising sound professional judgment in confidential case management.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and case management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail. Experience in higher education accessibility or disability services is preferred; however, applicants with relevant experience in ADA compliance, civil rights compliance, employee accommodations, legal services, human resources, rehabilitation services, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
