About the Role Lead academic sales across North America, shaping how universities adopt Synopsys tools and education resources to empower the next generation of engineers. You will manage university relationships, coach a distributed team of Regional Managers, and translate regional insights into coordinated plays that drive growth and partnerships beyond a single contract cycle.
What You'll Do
- Lead academic account strategy across North America, managing a portfolio of university relationships while coaching and supporting a distributed team of Regional Managers
- Step into complex deals and renewals when the team needs senior support, negotiating with procurement or reframing value with deans
- Identify market trends and opportunities across your region by synthesizing feedback from your team, turning insights into coordinated plays
- Plan regional coverage for conferences, student competitions, and university events to maximize team presence and optimize travel budgets
- Coach Regional Managers in deal strategy, stakeholder management, and positioning
- Connect cross-region opportunities like multi-university research consortia or national lab partnerships, coordinating across teams
- Build and maintain relationships with key academic stakeholders including department chairs, research administrators, and university leadership
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading academic sales or university partnerships, with ability to navigate conversations among faculty, department heads, and students
- Demonstrated ability to manage a regional portfolio and coach a distributed team to improve win rates
- Strong skills in complex deals, renewals, procurement negotiations, and value framing with deans
- Strategic thinker able to synthesize feedback into coordinated plays and drive regional initiatives
- Excellent relationship-building with academic stakeholders (chairs, administrators, university leadership) and ability to work across regions; comfortable at both hackathons and executive meetings
- Willingness to travel and participate in conferences, student competitions, and university events
Nice to Have
