About the Role The Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) at Taylor University seeks a part-time aide to support students requiring accessible learning accommodations. This role involves performing assigned tasks to help the AEC fulfill its mission, including reading exam materials aloud, assisting with assistive technologies, and providing sighted guidance as needed.
What You'll Do
- Read exam and quiz questions aloud for eligible students as directed by AEC staff.
- Provide support for assistive technology, including printing materials in braille, converting print or written documents, or adding captions for video material.
- Serve as a sighted guide for a blind or low-vision student.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in reading the English language aloud.
- Ability to clearly articulate the English language as it is read aloud.
- Ability to sit for 2-3 hours as needed for exam proctoring.
- Kind, patient disposition.
- Learn to use assistive technology.
- Provide direction and sighted guidance in a safe manner for a blind or low/vision student.
- Skills/qualifications dependent on particular task needed by the Academic Enrichment Center.
