Key Responsibilities
The Third Engineer is responsible to the second Engineer for:
- · Maintaining an engine room watch/UMS duty engineer as required
- · Maintaining all plant and paying particular attention to the main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines and boilers
- · Adopting safe working practices onboard
- · In the absence of an Electrical Officer onboard undertake electrical maintenance, including the completion of all PMS items in ShipSure
- · Understudying the Second Engineer whenever opportunities arise
- · Undertaking any other tasks, duties as instructed by the chief Engineer and/or Second Engineer
