Job title: 2nd Shift: Slaughter Plant NPIS Sorter
About the Role This role sorts and screens birds for disease and defects in the Bachoco USA Slaughter Plant on the 2nd shift, making decisions to condemn or salvage as regulated. It supports product quality and safety by identifying issues per the Poultry Product Inspection Act and by recording lot information.
What You'll Do
- Identify animal diseases and defects as regulated by the Poultry Product Inspection Act.
- Determine whether to condemn the bird or send it to be salvaged; condemn cadavers or badly bruised birds.
- Mark parts to be trimmed in Evisceration and trim bad parts off birds.
- Enter information into the computer per lot; maintain accurate data.
- Follow safety procedures as this is a safety-sensitive position.
- This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
- Ability to read a limited number of words and to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to count; basic mathematical skills; ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions.
- Ability to work the 2nd shift in an on-site plant environment; able to work in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational skills, dependability, and willingness to follow policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: $16.75 per hour; plus $1/hour weekly attendance incentive and $1/hour night shift premium.
- Pay increases at 30- and 90-days; 30-day job shadowing and mentorship program.
