Job title: 2nd Shift Security Officer
About the Role The Security Officer will help protect Mattel’s people, assets and brand at the El Segundo headquarters. This role requires a flexible, collaborative individual who can support a global security strategy while performing on-site duties, including weekend/holiday coverage.
What You'll Do
- Support Mattel’s Global Security Strategy to protect people, assets, and the company’s reputation by delivering exceptional service and consistently applying policies.
- Enforce global security policies to create a safe environment for employees and visitors.
- Execute security duties per Contingency Operations and SOPs under the direction of the Security Leader/Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.
- Conduct security patrols on foot, in a vehicle, and digitally to monitor campuses for security, safety, and facilities-related concerns.
- Monitor access control, CCTV, and the guard tour management system; monitor the fire control panel and respond to alarms.
- Report service/maintenance issues to Facilities; perform administrative data entry for incident documentation via the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ensure adherence to badge policies, visitor registration, contractor/intern check-ins, and other visitor types.
- Manage parking lot safety, traffic control, accident investigations, and emergency call box responses.
- Support IP processes surrounding confidentiality and controlled destruction of IP per Mattel standards.
- Maintain flexibility to work multiple shifts as needed; this is an onsite role with no remote work.
What We're Looking For
- 1+ years of Security, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, Law Enforcement, or military background preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license; valid Security Guard License where required.
- First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification or willingness to obtain via Mattel training.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and all organizational levels; strong written and verbal communication.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities; ability to remain calm in emergencies.
- Working knowledge of PCs and software including MS Windows and Microsoft Office; CCTV and access control knowledge a plus.
- Ability to work varying shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations; write reports and incident documentation.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds; outdoor posts may involve extreme weather.
- Ability to use post-security equipment (handheld detectors, radios, access control systems, CCTV).
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of PCs and software including MS Windows, Microsoft Office, CCTV and access control is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
