Job title: 2 Operator in Press - 1st shift

About the Role We are hiring a 2 Press Operator for our printing plant team in Eagan, Minnesota. As a 2 Press Operator, you will be responsible for working as a Mid-Level Operator on our Core Print Solutions team. You will be operating state of the art offset and digital web presses. You would also be eligible for a 2,500 signing bonus upon being in the role for 90 days.

What You'll Do

  • Review job specifications for material and set-up requirements
  • Perform or delegate set-up tasks; monitor the equipment and product through the job run to ensure a high-quality product
  • Perform moderately complex trouble-shooting related to product or equipment
  • Communicate effectively during shift and at shift hand-off
  • Evaluate mechanical condition of equipment, complete preventive maintenance; involve Maintenance as needed
  • Use computer-based workflow applications to manage files (MII, SAP)
  • Accurately document activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems, i.e., material usage, equipment issues
  • Accurately mark, verify, and tag loads to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Provide work direction to others, whether direct crew or other individuals in the workstream
  • Actively participate in safety programs and contribute to a safe culture
  • Perform training as needed
  • Meet or exceed established quality and productivity standards utilizing standard work procedures
  • Implement housekeeping procedures to maintain work area and equipment
  • Participate in project teams as needed; recommend and implement process improvements
  • Fill in for other Operators as needed including covering absences or breaks

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher; vocational/technical degree strongly preferred
  • Experience leading and training others
  • Experience in an industrial setting with a wide range of production machinery
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, and work independently and as part of a team
  • Solid understanding of Lean concepts and continuous improvement
  • Competent with rulers and measurement; able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and production orders
  • Able to regularly lift at least 5 lbs above the shoulder and push/pull and lift at least 10 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Regularly standing and walking

Nice to Have

  • Vocational/technical degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with Lean/continuous improvement is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • 2,500 signing bonus upon being in role for 90 days
  • 1st shift – 6:30 am – 2:30 pm; occasional overtime up to 4 hours per day and occasional weekend shifts
