Job title: Assistant/Associate/Professor of Family Medicine

About the Role The Professor of Family Medicine will be directly responsible for teaching, clinical duties, and scholarly activity. The role includes leading and facilitating skills labs for residents and students at LMU's GME partner institutions, ensuring hands-on, competency-based learning experiences. The appointee will design and deliver structured procedural training to enhance residents' and students' clinical competencies.

What You'll Do

  • Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to faculty, staff, students and the community at large
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students
  • Establish curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction related to the medical education process
  • Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM)
  • Precept and model a professional atmosphere that values knowledge, inquiry, and academic integrity
  • Maintain high standards of clinical service and clear communication in writing and speech
  • Maintain outlines and objectives for each lecture on file in the appropriate office
  • Deliver lectures, seminars, small group discussions, and clinical assignments as scheduled
  • Design and present courses and/or series of integrated lectures and/or small group discussions
  • Prepare examination questions and grade courses or portions of courses
  • Meet classes according to published schedule
  • Commit to a professional multicultural environment and diversity
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required
  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Development and Assessment on curricular improvements
  • Work with the Dean of Basic Medical Sciences on curricular matters as needed
  • Serve as an active member of the department and collaborate with the chair to advance the department and College mission
  • Complete institutional, program accreditation, and other reports as required
  • Provide clinical service/patient care and bedside teaching for students in the clinical setting
  • Demonstrate and supervise students during clinical activities using standardized patients or volunteers
  • Supervise students during approved patient care events including health fairs and community outreach
  • Model professional behavior for learners and colleagues
  • Participate in clinic quality assurance and other service evaluation activities
  • Engage in scholarly activity and mentorship of medical and other students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Required Qualifications: able to be licensed in Tennessee within the first year of hire by the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination/Tennessee Medical State Board; unrestricted Tennessee license and approved medical professional liability insurance must be maintained throughout employment
  • Preferred Qualifications: minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical/academic medicine teaching and leadership; academic rank commensurate with training and experience

Nice to Have

  • Five years of clinical/academic medicine teaching and leadership experience is preferred (as stated)
