About the Role The Veteran Services Officer performs administrative work to assist veterans and their families in Craven County in obtaining benefits offered by the federal and state Department of Veterans Affairs. The role involves helping claimants navigate benefits programs and maintaining documentation to support eligibility. What You'll Do
- Assist veterans and dependents in applying to the Department of Veterans Affairs for pension, compensation, burial allowance, medical services, education and housing loans, death benefits, and other benefits.
- Help complete relevant applications and ensure that necessary records, medical reports, and materials are collected and submitted to substantiate claims.
- Process and expedite paperwork; recommend acceptable documentation and sources to obtain needed materials.
