About the Role
The University Police Officer position at UMass Boston is a sworn, POST-regulated role tasked with patrolling university property and adjacent areas to provide a safe and secure environment for the campus community. The role operates under state and university policies and includes a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment. The officer may be required to perform duties in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, and university procedures.
What You'll Do
- Exercise police powers under M.G.L. Ch. 75 s. 32A to detect and apprehend violators; investigate crimes, accidents, and complaints; identify offenders and participate in court proceedings as required.
- Patrol buildings and lands to protect persons and property; monitor for criminal activity or safety hazards and report actions taken.
