School Bus Driver (DPS)

Responsibilities

• Proficient in the operation of a school bus for the safe and efficient transportation of students with and without disabilities to and from school. Performs and records daily safety checks on bus and bus components including inspection of tires, lights, fuel level, oil level and windshield wipers, and in reporting defective equipment for repair in a timely manner. Conducts emergency and evacuation drills, completes incident reports and reports violations of state school bus law, as required. Maintains effective control over groups of children or young adult students to ensure student behavior does not distract safe driving. Communicates with the dispatcher and supervisor utilizing a two-way radio transmitter.
