About the Role The Radiation Oncology Authorization Specialist coordinates and manages medical necessity-based prior authorizations for radiation oncology services. In a high-volume environment, the role applies payer criteria to secure financial clearance before key milestones (consult, CT simulation, treatment start) by reviewing the EMR and related tools. The specialist also monitors cases, handles payer requests, and coordinates denials/appeals to minimize delays in patient care. What You'll Do

  • Independently coordinate and manage prior authorizations for radiation oncology services.
  • Review EMR and other tools to compile relevant clinical information for authorizations.
  • Monitor pending cases and respond to payer requests for additional information.
  • Coordinate next steps for denials, peer-to-peer reviews, and appeals to reduce delays in patient care.
