About the Role Join a passionate team of railway professionals committed to delivering essential maintenance and services to trains. As a Mechanical Service Operator, you will support locomotive operations by stocking materials and maintaining cleanliness in shop and service facilities, gaining a holistic understanding of Union Pacific's mechanical operations. What You'll Do
- Operate locomotives to transport them between shop locations, service tracks, switching areas, and line switches; assist hostlers by operating derails.
- Safely operate a variety of shop machines and tools, including forklifts, backhoes, bobcats, mobile cranes, and high-pressure steam cleaning equipment.
- Restock locomotives with necessary materials (drinking water, sand, spare parts) and ensure supplies are available.
