About the Role
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. Reporting to the Clinician Supervisor, the clinician performs specialized psychological testing and assessment of the clinical needs of adult inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections.
What You'll Do
- Conduct psychological testing and assessments to arrive at DSM diagnoses through testing and evaluation sessions.
- Provide crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, and psycho-education programming as clinically indicated to assigned inmates.
- Develop achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans with input from inmates and Department of Corrections staff.
- Advocate for appropriate mental health services and coordinate care as needed within the correctional setting.
