About the Role
Under the general supervision of the Research and Environmental Compliance Officer, this role maintains and performs duties related to hazardous waste programs at the University to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and to reduce hazards and exposures. The incumbent serves as an internal consultant on hazardous waste management and routinely engages with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and regulatory agencies. The role carries potential liability and regulatory consequences if tasks are not performed satisfactorily.
What You'll Do
- Complete chemical, radioactive, and infectious waste pickups on campus; classify waste by EPA and DOT hazard and shipping class; bulk compatible waste streams; assist with lab packs for off-site shipment.
