About this role
About the Role The Education Advocate will be part of The Bronx Defenders’ Education Defense Project within the Adolescent Defense Project, working with an interdisciplinary team to ensure youth in the 14–17 age range have access to the education they deserve. The role focuses on advocating for educational needs, addressing barriers such as special education needs, mental health, trauma histories, and navigating educational and legal systems to support long‑term educational success and reduce the risk of incarceration or disruption in education. What You'll Do
- Strategize with lawyers and other advocates as part of a confidential legal team, working closely with the Education Attorney to advocate for clients’ educational needs.
- Meet young people at critical junctures: leaving incarceratory settings, re-entering school after absences, or after suspensions or disciplinary events.
