About the Role Union Pacific is seeking a diesel locomotive mechanic to maintain and repair our locomotive fleet, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with company and FRA standards. You will work hands-on to service engines, brake systems, and related components, contributing to efficient North American freight operations. What You'll Do
- Efficiently operate equipment including measuring instruments, precision machines, hand tools, and material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, overhead hoists)
- Communicate technical information and job procedures with teammates verbally, in writing, by telephone, radio, and intercom
- Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, graphs, and input data into a computer as needed
- Ensure equipment and materials are available for use; develop positive working relationships and handle controversy
