About the Department

This position is responsible for inspecting commercial and residential structures to ensure compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other related codes. Examine and evaluate construction documents for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Educate property owners and tenants, building engineers, contractors, other government agencies, and citizens on regulations and the importance of building safety.
