About the Role AFSCME Council 31 Attorney position to litigate grievance arbitration and administrative proceedings, and to provide advice and legal counsel. Based in Springfield or Chicago metropolitan area; travel within Illinois required. Requires IL licensure.
What You'll Do
- Litigate primarily at grievance arbitration and administrative proceedings; provide advice and legal counsel to Council staff and locals
- Interact with Council 31 staff, local union leaders, and rank-and-file employees
- Travel within Illinois as needed and coordinate with unions and legal teams
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor and employment law and applicable procedures
What We're Looking For
- Background in labor and employment law
- Strong commitment to the labor movement
- Licensed attorney in the State of Illinois
